
About the Alumni Awards
UC Davis School of Law and the King Hall Alumni Association Board of Directors present two awards annually to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of our alumni. The Rising Star Alum Award recognizes early achievements of alumni who have graduated in the past 15 years. The Distinguished Alum Award emphasizes lifetime achievements.
Eligibility: Nominees must be graduates of UC Davis School of Law. Nominees must have at least one recommendation describing the nominee’s achievement or service. Nominations may be made by any member of the public (e.g. need not be affiliated with UC Davis School of Law) by end of day Thursday, July 31.
Selection: The board of directors of the UC Davis School of Law Alumni Association will select the award recipients. UC Davis Law will present the awards at the annual Alumni Reunions at King Hall on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025. To nominate a candidate for Rising Star or Distinguished Alum, please complete and submit this form.
Rising Star Alum Award Selection Criteria
Award recipients are selected on the basis of their early career achievements and service to society. Such service includes contributions to the legal profession, education, public service, professional societies, and civic or community causes that reflect the values of the school, and/or displays of commitment to the school through contributions of service or financial support.
Distinguished Alum Award Selection Criteria
Award recipients are selected on the basis of their career achievements and service to society, such as contributions to the legal profession, education, public service, professional societies, and civic or community causes that reflect the values of the school; and/or on the basis of their commitment to the school through their contributions of service or financial support.
UC Davis School of Law Mission
The mission of the School of Law of the University of California, Davis, is to be a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the development and dissemination of legal knowledge, to educate students to become socially responsible lawyers committed to professional excellence and high ethical standards, and to provide significant public service through law reform and professional activities. Through its faculty, students, and graduates, the School of Law seeks to make substantial contributions toward solving the complex legal problems confronting our society.
How to Nominate
Individuals wishing to nominate an alum for consideration should complete and submit a nomination form.

July 31, 2025: Deadline for nominations
August 2025: Committee makes recommendations & board approves
August 2025: Recipients notified of award
September 2025: Recipients publicly announced
October 18, 2025: Presentation of awards at the annual Alumni Reunions at King Hall
