Homer G. Angelo and Ann Berryhill Professor of Law and CILP Director Chimène Keitner is a leading authority on international law and civil litigation, and served as the 27th Counselor on International Law in the U.S. Department of State. She has authored two books and dozens of articles, essays, and book chapters on questions surrounding the relationship among law, communities, and borders, including issues of jurisdiction, extraterritoriality, foreign sovereign and foreign official immunity, and the historical understandings underpinning current practice in these areas.
Associate Dean for Global Legal Education and CILP Co-Director Beth Greenwood oversees the UC Davis School of Law's extensive and varied international programs. With more than 30 years of leadership experience in international education, she has pioneered innovative programs that consistently attract high-achieving students from Asia, Latin America, and Europe. Since 1990, the International Law Programs have educated more than 4,000+ leading lawyers, judges, and academics from 50 countries.
John D. Ayer Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Business Law and Society Afra Afsharipour served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UC Davis Law from 2018 to 2024. She has published extensively on comparative corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law in several books and prestigious law journals. She has delivered numerous talks, nationally and internationally, and has been a visiting scholar in India, China and Taiwan. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute.
Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law Raquel Aldana was the inaugural UC Davis Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Diversity. Aldana has led multiple research projects and programs around gender violence, transitional justice, criminal justice, sustainable development, immigrant justice, and immigrant trauma. She has authored or edited five books and published over thirty law review articles or book chapters on transitional justice, criminal justice, sustainable development, inter-cultural legal sensibility, and immigration.
Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law Hannah Buxbaum is a renowned expert on international jurisdiction, international litigation, and comparative law. She co-authored a leading casebook on international business transactions, edited two books on extraterritoriality, and has authored more than 50 scholarly articles and book chapters. She is an elected member of the Institut de Droit International, the American Law Institute, and the International Academy of Comparative Law, as well as president of the American Society of Comparative Law.
