Networking Opportunities and Professional Affiliations
California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA) is the nation's largest association of young and new lawyers. CYLA provides its members with opportunities for involvement in the profession and for participating in public service at state and local levels. All California attorneys who are in their first five years of practice or are 36 years of age or younger are automatically members of CYLA. No separate membership fee is required. Membership in CYLA is a benefit provided to new members of the State Bar of California. For more information, visit the CYLA website.
Reciprocity
Alumni considering relocation or who are living in an area near another law school may be eligible to access the career services office of the school. Reciprocity policies vary greatly from school to school. Many schools have posted their reciprocity policy on their websites. Also, the NALP website, includes links to reciprocity policies of many of the NALP member schools. Most schools throughout the country will require a request for reciprocity to come through the graduate's career services office. Please contact Career Services regarding the reciprocity policy of the law school you would like to access and to request reciprocity request letters.
