Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week - November 17-24

From Empower Yolo:

This November, as we observe Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (Nov. 17–24) and prepare for Thanksgiving, we invite you to reflect on the many families in our community facing food and housing insecurity. Empower Yolo encourages you to join us in supporting this national campaign through learning, service, action, or giving.

According to the Yolo Food Bank, 1 in 3 households in Yolo County experience food insecurity—far above state and national averages, despite our region’s agricultural abundance.

Support Shelter Families with Food Donations

Community members can support Hunger and Homelessness Awareness efforts by donating to Empower Yolo’s food and housing programs here. You can contribute grocery gift cards (please request gift receipt) or non-perishable food items for holiday meals for families at the shelter.

There are two lists: one for holiday needs and one for general needs at the shelter. Donations can be made at our main office in Woodland or the Resource Center in Davis during office hours. Thank you for your support.
