Hi. My name is Akshitha, and I am from India.

And my interest in law began with a curiosity about how ideas, creativity, innovation are protected. Growing up, I was always fascinated about how intellectual property shapes industries and in technology and entertainment.

An idea coming out of a human's intellect really fascinates me that, you can actually protect someone's creativity and someone's idea and that curiosity evolved into a passion for studying law.

What’s your favorite class so far?

so far, my favorite topic that I've learned in LLM is copyrights.

And, I am inclined and fascinated towards copyrights because I get to learn really new things that I didn't know before, like there was a new topic that I learned recently, like how sculptures were also copyrighted. That was something new for me.

So far, I had two professors, and they both hail from really good educational institutions. They’re very knowledgeable in their field and what they teach. So the way they put it out, it's like you're just in the class and you can totally focus and listen to them, and 40 minutes just passes away like that in class.

Why did you choose the UC Davis LLM Program?

So the LLM has given me a truly global perspective, understanding both Indian and US legal frameworks, allows me to analyze issues more holistically, especially in areas like IP enforcement and cross-border business transactions.

And I like networking and talking with people from all over the educational world, from the same field. I wanted to know their perspective. And, I think that really helps me. So that's why I'm here at UC Davis.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

I would say be open to perspectives and take initiative. Engage with professors, classmates, and campus activities. And the alum goes by so quickly. Like I was talking to my friends the other day, and it felt like I just joined UC Davis. I mean, use every opportunity and every minute at UC Davis, that I would say. And enjoy your journey.
