CBS Sacramento Quotes Professor Lin on Senate Blocking California EV Mandate
CBS Sacramento interviewed Professor Albert Lin for a May 22 report on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s and Attorney General Rob Bonta’s vows to sue the federal government after the U.S. Senate voted to block California’s mandate to phase out new sales of gas-powered vehicles in favor of electric vehicles.
Newsom and Bonta’s lawsuit would rest on the legality of Congress revoking three Joe Biden administration-era waivers granted to California.
Lin explained to reporter Tori Apodaca that the Congressional Review Act allows Congress to invalidate federal agency rules within a certain time frame, but that the waivers resulted from agency orders, not rules.
