Professor Joslin Testifies Twice on Behalf of Illinois Bill She Helped Draft

Professor Courtney Joslin  testified before two Illinois General Assembly subcommittees on behalf of the Equality for Every Family Act. Joslin also helped draft the bill, which would update Illinois’ parentage statutes to ensure that all children and families are protected.

Joslin testified before a Senate subcommittee on May 28 and a House subcommittee on May 30. Approved by the House on May 31, the bill now awaits Gov. JB Pritzker’s signature.

Professor Joslin is a leading scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples. She is a two-time Dukeminier Award recipient and the 2023 recipient of UC Davis Law’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
