Domestic and Sexual Violence Law Clinic

Fall semester only (2025-2026): Students provide holistic, client-centered civil legal assistance and representation to survivors of gender-based violence primarily by staffing a community walk-in pro per restraining order clinic; providing consultations to survivors of gender-based violence participating in Title IX cases and related civil matters responsive to clients’ individual goals; and creating a community outreach or research project. The clinic begins with an all-clinic orientation the Friday before Fall classes resume and an intensive orientation during the following Saturday focusing on gender-based violence, working with victims of trauma, and office procedures. Subsequent two-hour seminars are held throughout the year. In addition, student teams meet weekly with their supervising attorney. Clinic students engage in an average of 12 hours of work per week.

Prerequisite: Law 203 Civil Procedure and Prior or concurrent enrollment in Law 219 Evidence. 
Prior or concurrent enrollment in Law 272 Family Law is recommended.

Grading Mode: Letter Grading.
Graduation Requirements: May satisfy the Advanced Writing Requirement OR count towards the Professional Skills Requirement, student must choose one.
