This week our Lambda Law Students Association presented the annual Bill Smith lecture with Daniella Carter, a passionate LBGTQ+ advocate. She offered a powerful lecture on life as a trans person in foster care.

A member of the UC Davis Law Class of 1998, Bill Smith, who died of a disability, was a civil rights activist as a law student. He was honored with the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award. Coincidentally, Bill was a cousin by marriage to my wife, Virginia Salazar, and we spent time with Bill as a student. A classmate of Smith's, Professor Holly Cooper '98 introduced the lecture.
