Give Day to focus on emergency funds for students
Dear alumni and friends of King Hall:
I hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. It has been an incredibly stressful time as we all adapt to life during an unprecedented public health crisis.
King Hall’s community spirit has served us well in these challenging times. Students, faculty, and staff have worked together, showing respect, kindness and consideration, while transitioning to online classes and exams, events, and operations. Commencement 2020 has been postponed to the fall.
The well-being of our students is our highest priority. Many King Hall students are not from the area and lack local support systems. For this reason, we focus 2020 Give Day (this Friday and Saturday) on students in need.
Contributions to the Dean’s Discretionary Fund will make an immediate impact, helping ensure our students have food security, safe shelter, access to counseling, and other resources. In addition, some of the fund will be earmarked for helping students secure summer employment in uncertain economic times. Summer jobs, of course, play a vital role on the path to becoming a lawyer.
Thank you for all you do for UC Davis Law. Special thanks to the supporters who made leadership challenge gifts to inspire others. For details on how to help King Hall students, see our Give Day page.
The social justice conscience of Martin Luther King Jr. has inspired generations of King Hall students and alumni. UC Davis Law’s rich history motivates us to face today’s challenges together and help those in need.
I look forward to the future when I can catch up with alumni and friends in person in good times. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy.
Very truly yours,
Dean Johnson
