King Hall Remembers the March on Washington 60 Years Later

March on Washington 2023

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Over the weekend, thousands gathered for this anniversary to honor the call for racial and social justice.

Dr. King led the historic March on Washington as the nation was struggling with enduring civil rights for all. At UC Davis School of Law, in a building named after Dr. King, we continue that struggle and celebrate the March on Washington.

May we reflect on Dr. King's words of urgency:

"Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood."

May we answer Dr. King's resounding call to action. There remains much work to do and much to fight for together.
