Patiño Banquet Once Again a Great Success
The annual Lorenzo Patiño Banquet organized by the Latinx Law Students Association was again a stunning success.
With us to celebrate on Saturday at the beautiful Tsakopoulos Library Galleria in Sacramento were Chancellor Gary May and his wife, LeShelle, as well as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Mary Croughan.
Each year, the celebration of graduates is a wonderful gathering of students, faculty, staff, friends and family.
Law student Hector Sanchez Castaneda ’24 carefully choreographed the banquet, which celebrates the legacy of the late Sacramento Judge Lorenzo Patiño ’73, a pathbreaker for justice.
The keynote address was given by UC Davis Law alum and UC Immigrant Legal Services Center Executive Director Aidín Castillo ’11. She gave a wonderful speech that addressed her experiences as an undocumented student and her path to leading a groundbreaking immigrant legal services center.
Congratulations to Pame González Montes De Oca ’23, who received the Patiño Award for public service – and to all the 3Ls who donned their stoles on Saturday night.
UC Davis Law clinical programs Senior Legal Secretary Martha Jaime received the Cruz Reynoso Award, which honors a staff or faculty member who has demonstrated extraordinary support to Latinx students at King Hall. The award was named for the late California Supreme Court justice and UC Davis Law professor, a cherished member of the King Hall community.
Thank you to the Latinx Law Students Association for hosting such a fantastic event.
