Professor Cooper and Students Discuss Abolishing ICE Detention Center

Last week, I watched a UC Davis Book Project webinar featuring UC Davis Law Immigration Law Clinic Co-Director and Professor Holly Cooper and law student scholars Gabriela Posada '24 and Anuj Shah '24. The presentation focused on advocacy work to abolish an ICE detention center.

The 2022-23 UC Davis Campus Community Book Project features a yearlong program around the book Defund Fear: Safety Without Policing, Prisons and Punishment by Zach Norris. The project theme is about transformative justice and police reform. The speakers on this program discussed the social justice work of the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. The law students and Professor Cooper were truly outstanding and made me proud to be at UC Davis School of Law. Thanks to the Clinic for all the great work.
