Professor Emerita Johns to Work on American Law Institute Project

I was pleased to find out Professor Emerita Margaret Johns has been named an Associate Reporter on The American Law Institute’s Restatement of the Law, Constitutional Torts. Professor Johns is also a UC Davis Law Class of '76 alumna. I am proud she will be reporting on this ALI project beginning in 2024. It’s an incredible honor because reporters are identified by ALI’s director on the basis of their subject matter expertise and are approved by ALI’s council.
The project will be spearheaded by Reporters John C. Jeffries, Jr. of University of Virginia School of Law and Pamela S. Karlan of Stanford Law School. It will examine the law of 42 U.S.C. § 1983, which grants individuals the ability to sue state government employees and others acting "under color of state law" in federal court for breaches of federal law.
