Professor Johnson Talks to Bee About Deported DACA Recipient's Return to U.S.
Professor Kevin R. Johnson spoke to the Sacramento Bee in early April regarding the return to the United States of Maria de Jesus Estrada Juarez, a Sacramento woman who had been deported to Mexico despite having Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.
The Bee story covered Estrada Juarez’s reunion with family members in late March in California.
Johnson had spoken to the Bee and ABC10 about the Estrada Juarez case just after she was deported in February.
Kevin R. Johnson is a distinguished professor of law, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law. Johnson is the director of the Aoki Center for Critical Race and Nation Studies and also has an appointment as professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He served as dean of UC Davis Law from 2008 to 2024.
