Research Assistant Training
Monday, May 19 | 10 a.m. to noon | Zoom
Are you working as a research assistant for King Hall faculty this summer? Don't miss our specialized training session designed to set you up for success!
The training will be provided by Research Librarian Kristin Brandt, Dean Scivoletto, and Human Resources Manager Lisa Hyres. The first section will include information on paperwork for getting hired and paid, as well as tips for your success as an RA. The bulk of the training will consist of:
- Developing effective search strategies across legal and multidisciplinary databases
- Navigating specialized legal research platforms like HeinOnline, Bloomberg Law, and legislative/regulatory databases
- Using academic databases, open access resources, and library catalogs for comprehensive research
- Evaluating information sources critically
This training is highly recommended for summer RAs will help you develop crucial research skills for your summer position. RSVP here by May 16 to receive the Zoom link.
Research Rx Series
Thursdays | 12:15-1:00 p.m. | Zoom
Need a dose of legal research help? Join our librarians for Research Rx, a four-part series beginning Thursday, May 22, covering practical research topics frequently encountered in summer jobs and internships.
Each Thursday session includes a focused presentation on a specific research skill followed by Q&A with a research librarian:
- May 22: Making the Most of Generative AI Legal Research Tools
- May 29: Advanced Searching in Lexis, Westlaw, and Google
- June 5: Introduction to Immigration Law Research
- June 12: Tracking Executive Orders and Regulatory Changes in the New Administration
