Anne Stausboll '84 to Retire as CalPERS Chief Executive

Anne Stausboll '84 has announced that she will step down from her position as Chief Executive Officer of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) at the end of the current fiscal year.  The announcement drew media coverage including articles in the Sacramento Bee and Sacramento Business Journal.

Stausboll is the first female CEO in the history of CalPERS, the nation's largest public pension fund.  She is widely credited with successfully guiding the organization through the financial markets crash and the aftermath of an ethical scandal involving her predecessor.

"I'm really ready to explore the next chapter of my life," Stausboll said in an interview with the Sacramento Bee.  She said that after some time off, she will be "looking for new opportunities to serve the public."
