Darrell Steinberg '84 to Serve as Director of Policy and Advocacy for UC Davis Behavioral Health Center
Former California State Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg '84, a longtime advocate for mental health programs during his tenure in the California Legislature, has agreed to serve as Director of Policy and Advocacy for the new UC Davis Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. As a member of the California Assembly, Steinberg authored the Mental Health Services Act, the 2004 proposition that funds the Center. In addition to his unpaid position with the Center, Steinberg will also be a visiting professor in the UC Davis Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He recently joined the Sacramento office of Greenberg Traurig LLP as Chair of its California Government Law & Policy Practice after serving the Sacramento region in Legislature for 14 of the past 16 years, including six years as leader of the Senate.
