Professor Chin and John Ormonde '15 Present at Social Science History Association Meeting
Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin and John Ormonde '15 presented their paper "The War against Chinese Restaurants" at the Social Science History Association Meeting in Chicago. The paper identifies a novel body of Jim Crow legislation attempting to close Chinese restaurants, or keep white women from entering or working in them.
Gabriel "Jack" Chin is Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of Law and holder of the Edward L. Barrett Endowed Chair at UC Davis School of Law. He is a prolific and much-cited criminal and immigration law scholar whose work has addressed many of the most pressing social issues of our time. John Ormonde is a Tax Consultant with Deloitte Tax LLP.
