Senior Associate Dean Afsharipour, Professor Miazad Speak at Berkeley Law Workshop

Senior Associate Dean Afra Afsharipour and Professor Amelia Miazad participated in the Organization of Social Impact Workshop hosted by UC Berkeley School of Law on Nov. 7. The workshop was held in conjunction with ESG (Environmental, Society, Governance) Paper Award Competition.

Afsharipour addressed “ESG and Board Shareholder Engagement in M&A,” and Miazad discussed “D&O Insurers as ESG Monitors.”

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Afra Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law.  Her scholarship has appeared in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review. 

Professor Amelia Miazad is an expert on the nexus between corporate law and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Professor Miazad’s work has been published in the Vanderbilt Law Review, Minnesota Law Review and UC Davis Law Review, among other leading publications. Before coming to Davis, Professor Miazad was a Senior Research Fellow at UC Berkeley School of Law. At Berkeley Law, she founded and led the Business in Society Institute.
