Professor Courtney Joslin provided assistance on the Equality for Every Family Act (HB 2568), which will update Illinois’ parentage statutes to ensure that all children and families are protected. Joslin also served as the Reporter for the Uniform Parentage Act (2017), upon which this legislation is based.

On Oct. 29, the Illinois Legislature passed the bill and now awaits Gov. JB Pritzker’s signature.

On Oct. 29, Professor Lisa R. Pruitt delivered a talk, "Rural Justice," at the University of Wisconsin, Madison Department of Community and Environmental Sociology. 

Pruitt was invited to discuss her groundbreaking body of work that brings a ruralist lens to myriad legal topics, among them abortion access, substance abuse, termination of parental rights, domestic violence, access to justice, health and human services, and indigent defense.

Professor Christopher Elmendorf wrote an Oct. 30 op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle, "Did S.F.'s top economist just torpedo Mayor Lurie's housing plan?" Read more.

Professor David Sandino presented at the 48th Fulbright Association Conference, held Oct. 24-26 at Florida International University in Miami.

Sandino’s presentation was titled “Avoiding Groundwater Overdraft, Land Subsidence, and Contamination: Sustainable Groundwater Management Around the Globe.”  

The Fulbright Association is an independent nonprofit and the American alumni organization of the Fulbright program.

In an Oct. 10 Continuing Education for the Bar story, Professor Peter Lee was quoted about how California is approaching the tough balancing act of AI regulation. Read the article from UCLA's CEB, "Gavin Newsom's AI Policy Dilemma."

The sixth edition of Professor Chimène Keitner's book, International Law Frameworks, will release in November.

On Oct. 24, Professors Raquel Aldana and Kevin R. Johnson were featured speakers at the University of Pennsylvania Law Review Symposium, "The Future of Law and Multiracial Democrary." Aldana and Johnson presented during the panel focused on immigration law. 

Professor Kevin R. Johnson was quoted in an Oct. 21 ProPublica story examining the impact of an Arizona county that was one of the nation's first jurisdiction's to enact ICE's 287(g) program that allowed local police to enforce immigration laws.
