On Feb. 2, Professor Kevin R. Johnson virtually presented his forthcoming article, “The Trump Administration’s Racial Dragnet: Immigration Enforcement in Los Angeles” (SMU Law Review), to faculty as part of a speaker series at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.

On Jan. 27, a UC Davis Global Migration Center expert panel that included Professors Kevin R. Johnson and Raquel Aldana discussed Javier Zamora’s 2022 memoir Solito, the 2026 UC Davis Campus Community Book Project selection.

Professor Peter Lee appeared on a KVMR News Special to discuss the use of AI in the legal field, including a recent case of generative AI misuse by the Nevada County District Attorney’s office. On Jan. 9, Professor David Sandino presented an introduction to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to the 2026 Delta Leadership Program, an annual program organized by the Delta Protection Commission and the Delta Foundation to educate Delta citizens (including Yolo County and UC Davis) about water issues, promote leadership, and  form networks.

Professor Chimène Keitner wrote a Jan. 3 opinion piece for The Fulcrum related to President Donald Trump’s demands under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The article’s headline reads “Congress Shouldn’t Let Federal Tort Claims Become Political Gifts.”  

Professor Chimène Keitner wrote an explainer for Just Security on the significance of Nicolás Maduro’s assertion in a U.S. federal court on Jan. 5 that “I am still the president of my country.”
